Know Your Rhythm to Make Your Beats
The first thing that you should know is what and how we define what the word rhythm is. There are two important parts of rhythm. First of all, we know it is made up of sounds. Second of all it is made up of periods or spaces of time.
So the rhythm is made up of different periods of time of a group of different sounds.
Another part of rhythm is what we call tempo. The tempo is the speed of a rhythm. The tempo is defined by a certain number of beats per minute. For the hip hop beats it usually should be set at around 80 to 100 beats per minute.
In order to keep track of the beats while you make your beats, you have to understand what the time signature is. The time signature makes you think of a fraction. There are two numbers and one sits on top of the other. The top number tells you how many beats are in a measure. The bottom number tells you which kind of note gets one beat.
The final piece of information that ties this all together is the note. The note is the pictorial representation of a beat. At the same time, it tells you how long you will be able to hear the beat or how long the sound will be heard.
There is a quarter note. That will equal 1 beat. The half note is equal to 2 beats. The dotted half note is equal to 3 beats. The whole note is equal to 4 beats. The eight note is equal to a half of a beat and the sixteenth note is equal to a quarter of a beat.
