Method #1 – Follow your passion

I love anything to do with music. If I am going to write my lyrics, I might first of all consider centering my theme on music. Now this could be by using actually musical terms. Since music is all about sounds, then I could center my lyrics around the sounds that are around me. That is one way to find your theme.

Method #2 – Follow a Political or Social Policy

If there is a social event or a political event, people will often write songs around these events. During and after the Vietnam War, people wrote a lot of songs to protest the United State’s presence there.Songs have been written to honor the soldiers that served their country in the war over there. Songs have been written by soldiers that were there as they expressed their feelings about being there.

Method #3 – Follow a Nature Theme

Another very common theme that many songs have been written about revolve around a nature theme. It may be about something that someone saw while they were walking out in the nature. Some songs are written to describe feelings or emotions while outside.
Some songs are written to describe what things in nature look like. Other songs have been written to describe the sounds and scenes in nature. This is another great theme to focus on when writing your lyrics.

Method #4 – Follow a Spiritual Theme

There have been so many songs that have been written celebrating the existence of God or a higher being.

This theme has become so popular that spiritual music has its own genre with many sub genres that exist underneath the main genre.
The is a very good theme to start with when you are looking to focus on something while writing your lyrics.  As you sit down to start writing a song, make sure that you take the time to come up with a theme before you write your lyrics. This will help you to narrow down what you are writing as well as help you to have a focus throughout the time that you are developing and creating the lyrics.

Here’s some quick tips on how to write
lyrics so you can freestyle rap better.

* To write a rap song the best thing to
do is write from your heart and things
that you have experienced in your life
and would like sharing with the outside
world.

Writing a rap song is about writing
your feelings and expressing yourself.

* The hook should be something
infectious and catchy. The hook is
basically the chorus. Like most of
those songs listed, listen to the way
the artist works with the beat to create
a hook and do the same with your beat.

* Add flavor to the beats by including
drum fills (e.g. before chorus or verse,
add additional bass and melody lines and
make the song shine).

* When creating a bass line: the bass
could play a note on every kick of the
drum beat.

* A hi-hat can be good, because it keeps
the song flowing and keeps the pace, but
it’s optional.

* If you don’t have access to studio
equipment, the following cheap packages
can help with your quest: FL Studio, MTV
Music Generator, and Hip Hop Ejay.

However, the best beats you can get are
a live band, so if you have friends who
play guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, and
even brass (a la Youngblood Brass Band or
Flobots) give them a call and try to hook
something up.

* Don’t show up to a battle in bad
looking clothes or shoes ,etc because
that just makes you more vulnerable to
being a target for dissing.

It may seem bizarre, but even if you
have a good flow,if you have an easily
targetable appearance or quality, it
can cost you the battle.

go into battle, get my “Freestyle
Method” course.
